Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen (MARUM)

The project partner MARUM has many years of experience with the cultivation and physiological characterization of marine microorganisms.

In the current research projects of the working group, the ecological role and biogeochemical relevance of planktonic archaea are primarily examined. In order to determine the metabolic performance, various physiological, biochemical and molecular biological methods are combined with biogeochemical and geochemical analyzes on model organisms that are difficult to cultivate.

Through the integration in the MARUM Research Faculty, the project partner in Bremen has access to a large number of the most modern analysis tools as well as a unique infrastructure for exploratory studies of the oceans.
